About the role

The Head of Industrial Relations (IR) and Human Resources (HR) will lead the development and implementation of HR strategies and IR practices that support organizational goals. This role is responsible for managing employee relations, negotiating with labor unions, ensuring compliance with labor laws, and fostering a positive and productive work environment. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in HR and industrial relations, strong leadership abilities, and excellent communication skills.


Responsibilities


Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement IR strategies aligned with the company’s business objectives
  • Provide strategic guidance to senior management on IR issues, including labor negotiations, Driver issues , conflicts  and compliance
  • Lead initiatives to enhance Drivers engagement, satisfaction, and productivity


Industrial Relations Management:

  • Oversee collective bargaining processes and negotiations
  • Manage and resolve complex Drivers and contractual  relations issues, including disputes and grievances
  • Ensure adherence to labor laws, regulations, and company policies
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with external labor organizations and regulatory bodies


Policy Development and Compliance:

  • Conduct audits and ensure proper documentation and adherence to  IR policies


Leadership and Team Management:

  • Lead and mentor the  IR team, providing guidance, training, and support
  • Manage IR budgets and resources effectively, ensuring cost-efficient operations
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the HR team


Reporting and Analytics:

  • Prepare and present regular reports on IR metrics, including employee turnover, engagement levels, and conflict resolution outcomes
  • Utilize data and analytics to drive decision-making and continuous improvement in  IR practices


Candidate requirements

  • Experience: 15+  years of experience in HR, with significant experience in industrial relations and labor negotiations. Proven track record in a leadership role
  • Skills Required: Strong knowledge of labor laws, regulations, and collective bargaining processes, excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion, proven leadership and team management abilities, strategic thinking with strong problem-solving skills
  • Education qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Labor Relations, or a related field; Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., SHRM-SCP, SPHR) preferred
